unintentionally asked: School zoning in america is so weird. So weird. In australia like if you can feasibly get there and pay for it (public school is like $40 enrolment and then like 60 bucks a term or year or something) you can go to school there. People who live 1 hr 1/2 away used to bus it down a mountain range to go to my school everyday.

Most states don’t make you pay to enroll. I know California didn’t. In Illinois, you have to unless you qualify for free or reduced lunch. In America, you have to go to school in your school district and provide proof of address. Some school districts let you choose which school you go to while others zone certain areas for certain schools.
